The annual Champions of Otago tournament was hosted by The Taieri Lakes Golf Club on Sunday 30th of November.
The event had been scheduled for the 21st of August, but stormy conditions in the weeks leading up to the tournament had rendered the course all but unplayable. The decision was made to postpone until firmer conditions and warmer weather prevailed.
A Field of 22 teams, comprising of club’s Senior, Intermediate and Junior grade champions took part in a teams stableford with all 3 scores counting in the team total.
Trophies were presented to the winning clubs for gross and nett stablefords.
In the Gross Section, North Otago prevailed with a total of 86 from St Clair on 75.
The Nett competition was much tighter with Dunstan and Port Chalmers tied after 18 holes on 107. All 3 team members from each club were transported out to play the 18th hole as a sudden death play-off with the rest of the field watching on with interest.
Dunstan comfortable won the play-off hole.
