The 2012 tournament season tees off in this weekend with the annual Otago Stroke Play Championships, played over 72 holes at the Otago Golf Club’s Balmacewan course.
A full field faces the starter for the first major tournament of the year and it is a very strong field at that, with many of the victorious Southland Toro Interprovincial team fronting up to take on Otago’s best.
The tournament is the first of four events, designated as trials, for the Otago team to compete in the SBS Invitational at Otatara in the first weekend of March. Southland are also using the event as a trial.
Balmacewan is the venue for the 2012 Toro Interprovincial and the Otago (and Southland) Selectors will be keen to see how the top prospects perform on the track during the first serious outing for the season.
The draw for Saturdays 36 holes is: Otago Stroke Play 2012 – Saturday Draw
