The Lake Hawea GC has managed to defend the Brasch Cup with a 6 man team aggregate of -1.4 against their course rating.
The Brasch Cup is played annually, in April, by country clubs in the Otago District. The format is teams of 8 men, playing 18 holes stroke play, on their home course. The individual nett scores are then adjusted by subtracting the NZ course rating to give a + or – par score and the aggregate of the best 6 team members scores gives the club’s team total.
Scoring in 2015 was considerably better than for the previous year, when Lake Hawea took the title with an aggregate of +8.6
Balclutha were runners-up this year with a team total of even par, thanks to the round of a lifetime 74 – 19 – 55 (-12.5) by Gavin Scott.
Gavin wins the “Country Day Cup”, awarded to the best individual round recorded during the Brasch Cup. Runner-up to Gavin, some 6 shots behind, was Mark Hay from Lawrence GC on 75 – 15 – 60 (-6.5).
The trophies will be presented later in the season.
