The first round of the 2017 Central Otago Inter-club competition was played at Arrowtown Gc, on Saturday 18th of February.
The much sort after title was won by Millbrook in 2016, but they made a less than impressive start in theor 2017 campaign. The team from “The Mill” finished in 8th place (last) at the season opener and are trailing their neighbours, host club Arrowtown, by 32 strokes.
The competition involves 8 Central Otago clubs, with a round being hosted by each of the competing group throughout the season. There is a recess during the mid-winter period. The competition is stroke play, with the best 5 of the 6 man team’s scores counting in each round.
Large margins can be caught up over the course of the 8 rounds, but Arrowtown have taken full advantage of the home course start to the season and put themselves 14 shots in front of Alexandra.
